Lloret’s Birrasana festival postpones its tenth edition to 2023

The organisers "Cervesa Marina" argue that the impact on the brewing sector of the price of raw materials and energy makes it difficult for exhibitors to attend.

Lloret de Mar, 3 September 2022 – The organisers of the Birrasana festival, with the support of Lloret de Mar Town Council, have decided to postpone the Birrasana festival with the aim of “offering an edition next year that will allow this tenth anniversary to be celebrated in the way it deserves”.

The event was scheduled to take place from 23 to 25 September, but various economic and production reasons, such as the post-pandemic context, energy restrictions and the instability resulting from the war with Ukraine, with the consequent increase in the price of cereals, have had a strong impact on the sector and made it difficult for exhibitors to attend. The councillor for Economic Promotion, Jordi Orobitg, explains that “the organisers of the event have told us that the current context did not allow us to organise a festival at the same level as in recent years, especially in an edition that should be remarkable. Both our visitors and the national and international exhibitors who have supported the festival all these years have jointly considered that this was the best option”.

After nine editions, the last one in 2019, Birrasana has become a national and international reference in the world of craft beer, which in its last edition hosted 30 national and international beer exhibitors in the 4.000m2 space located in the Sa Caleta car park on the seafront. The festival combined the exhibition, tasting and pairing of different craft beers with different gastronomic proposals and live music.
