Lloret Convention Bureau joins the Spain Convention Bureau

Membership of this organisation will enable Lloret de Mar to participate in national and international promotional activities together with 63 other leading municipalities in this segment.

Last week the Lloret Convention Bureau travelled to Seville to take part in the 17th Constituent Assembly of the Spain Convention Bureau, where it defended its candidacy for membership of this supra-municipal body specialising in the promotion of meetings and events tourism in Spain. Created in 1984, the Spain Convention Bureau depends on the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) and is currently made up of 63 destinations, including leading cities in the promotion of meetings and events tourism such as Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, Malaga and Valencia, among others.

The Councillor for Tourism, Frederic Guich, highlighted during his presentation at the assembly that “in 2009 Lloret de Mar became the first major sun and beach destination in Spain to create a Convention Bureau. A public-private partnership project that now has more than 50 members, including accommodation, unique venues, services and specialised activities, and which has differentiated itself to offer a value proposition where people and their experience of the area are at the centre”. The presentation closed with the screening of the new Lloret Experiences video included in the new experience platform for companies: https://experiences.lloretdemar.org.

Over the last few weeks, the Lloret Convention Bureau has also continued to develop its action plan with its presence at IMEX in Frankfurt, a leading international trade fair that took place from 14 to 16 May, where it met with various international event organising agencies. This weekend it also co-organised a famtrip with representatives of the MICE division of the AMEX agency from Barcelona and Madrid, who were able to get to know the destination first-hand with a range of cultural (visit to Lloret Castle), nature (kayaking) and gastronomic activities, enjoying the Rice Festival, as well as discovering new accommodation developments such as the opening of the 5* Meliá Lloret de Mar, which has 11 meeting rooms, 200 bedrooms, 3 restaurants and 50,000 m2 of gardens.
