In 2023, culture will play an important role in Lloret de Mar as Capital of Catalan Culture 2023: music, dance, theatre, guided tours, dramatised visits and innovative shows make up a programme that will run throughout the year. A unique opportunity to showcase both its cultural and natural heritage and its multiculturalism, combined with an extensive programme of activities under the slogan “ We are what we celebrate” invites all visitors to enjoy the city and its wide range of leisure activities.
But this is not the only new cultural development in Lloret de Mar; another highlight is the inauguration of a new cultural space linked to the sea and environmental awareness, which will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology. This is the Castell de Lloret, a unique, multi-sensory immersive experience focused on climate change and located in the iconic neo-Gothic castle, with spectacular views over the cliffs of Lloret beach and the Costa Brava.
In addition, the Santa Clotilde Gardens (members of the European Cultural Route of Historic Gardens of the Council of Europe and located in the paradisiacal surroundings of Cala Boadella and Fenals Beach), which were the setting for the filming of different scenes of the series House of the Dragon, will have a programme of dramatised visits inspired by this series.
Restoration, a concept that is gaining more and more importance
In recent years, and even more so after the pandemic, travellers have been looking for memorable experiences, immersing themselves in the culture and tasting the local gastronomy rather than consuming material goods. In this sense, in addition to the increase in outdoor leisure and nature plans, those who have visited Lloret de Mar in 2022 have opted for restaurants.
Lloret de Mar will continue to promote this gastronomic offer, especially its healthier side. Last year saw the launch of the Little Foodies seal, a certification promoted by Lloret Turisme, in collaboration with the Fundació Alícia, which has certified the destination’s restaurants and accommodation as meeting the highest standards of quality, sustainability and health for the youngest members of the family to ensure that, even on holiday, they have a good, healthy and balanced diet.
