Lloret Convention Bureau celebrates its fifteenth anniversary

The event took place as part of the 13th General Assembly, where the 2023 Report and the 2024 Action Plan and Objectives were presented.

The Lloret Convention Bureau celebrated its fifteenth anniversary last night at the Guitart Central Park Aqua Resort. Lloret de Mar was the first major sun and beach destination in Spain to create a public-private entity dedicated to the promotion of meetings and events tourism. Today, the Lloret Convention Bureau has a total of 58 members, including accommodation, conference centres, restaurants, unique venues, agencies and specialised services (official guides, activity, audiovisual and translation companies, among others).

The anniversary was celebrated within the framework of the 13th General Assembly of Members, attended by around eighty participants, including political representatives, businessmen and collaborating entities, where the report on the actions carried out in 2023 and the plan of actions and objectives foreseen for 2024 were presented.

During the event, the figures for 2023 were presented, in which Lloret de Mar hosted a total of 143 corporate and association events with more than 20,000 delegates, including meetings and conferences of national and international companies such as MediSalud, Bosch, Herbalife, Osmozis, Access, Caixabank, Beiersdorf, Pierre Fabre, Eucerin, Ferrer, Wella Professionals, Roche and Isdin. In addition, as Montse Belisario, director of the Lloret Convention Bureau, explains: “Thanks to the destination’s specialisation in sports and meetings tourism, Lloret is currently very well positioned in the segment that combines both tourism products, and will host the second edition of the benchmark “Sports & Events” workshop from 24 to 26 October 2023, which brought together more than 170 sports travel professionals from 28 different countries in Lloret de Mar”.

Another well-established area of the Lloret Convention Bureau is Festivals & Events, which combines performances of different performing arts, such as singing and dancing, in different public spaces in the municipality. In 2023, 35 international folklore festivals were coordinated with a total of 7,800 participants from more than 20 countries, an increase of 3,000 people compared to 2022.

With regard to the action plan for 2024, the Lloret Convention Bureau continues to promote the city in priority markets such as Catalonia (Barcelona), Spain and France, and strategic markets such as the Nordic countries, as well as through its own actions, such as the recent experiential presentation in Barcelona to different event organisers, which continue to be combined with actions shared with supra-municipal bodies such as the Catalonia Convention Bureau or the Costa Brava Girona Convention Bureau. It has also recently presented new marketing tools, such as the Lloret Experiences web platform, with 51 unique and authentic experiences for incentives and corporate team-building, divided into six categories: Culture and Tradition, Nature and Sport, Bleisure (leisure and business), Health and Wellness, Food and Wine, Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility, organised by thirteen activity companies that are members of the Lloret Convention Bureau. In the words of the Mayor of Lloret de Mar, Adrià Lamelas, “a strategy that responds to the desire to put people first, both residents and delegates, and to encourage this close and human contact with the territory and the people who make it up, in order to create a greater bond and ensure that the events organised by companies in Lloret de Mar leave a legacy in our city”.
