Ptazeta and the Azucarillo Kings, headliners of the third edition of the Abanico’s Weekend of the Pride Costa Brava

Fórmula Abierta, Juacko, Choriza May, Alex Guirado, DJ Tarada, Verbena'm, Jèssica Pulla and local artists Joanne and Diana complete the line-up, which also includes a children's show by the group Els Atrapasomnis.

Lloret de Mar today presented the artistic line-up for the third edition of the Pride Costa Brava on the terrace of the Maritime Museum. Abanico’s Weekend will take place from 31st May to 2nd June and is co-organised by Lloret de Mar Town Council and PLURALS, the Lloret de Mar LGBTIQ+ Association.

“Since the 1960s, Lloret de Mar has been one of the pioneering tourist destinations in LGTBIQ+ leisure. We want to continue this trend as an open, plural and respectful city. This is why we continue to support Pride Costa Brava with the aim of making it a benchmark”, said Adrià Lamelas, Mayor of Lloret de Mar.

This year’s Abanicos Weekend, with a more comprehensive programme that extends throughout the month of May and aims to celebrate the rights of LGTBIQ+ people, includes a new family diversity party and a Drag Gala under the name of MissTravesti Costa Brava.

“Pride Costa Brava is a festival for everyone, which is why one of the new features this year is the inclusion of a family diversity activity designed for children by the Atrapasomnis group”, declared Miriam Rodríguez, Lloret de Mar Town Council’s Councillor for Equality.

Friday 31 May will be the first night of concerts. The performances will take place on the Areny stage (Carrer del Areny, 18), starting at 9 pm. One of the bands on the first night will be the Azucarillo Kings, who return to the stage after 25 years, with a performance of cover versions and a fusion of Catalan rumba and disco music. Also performing will be Alex Guirado, with electropop, flamenco pop and coplaqueer pieces. The artist mixes folklore and modern songs, ranging from Maria de la O and Rocío Jurado to Fangoria and KU Minerva, among others. On the same stage, local artist Diana will perform her traditional Bingo Show. The party will conclude with the cover band Verbena’m, in the Gotham Discotheque.

The following day, Saturday 1 June, the party will move to the Plaça Germinal Ros, opposite the Theatre, from 10 pm onwards. The night will be entertained by local drag artist Joanne, a true master of ceremonies who will be the perfect hostess for the Pride Costa Brava. On the Teatre stage, the pop music group Fórmula Abierta will perform, with former contestants from Operación Triunfo such as Geno Machado, Verónica Romero and Enrique Anaut, who are celebrating 20 years on stage. The second day will also feature the Valencian drag queen Choriza May. Adrián Martín, the person behind the show, is a multifaceted artist with a live performance that combines his own songs with covers from different eras. Ptazeta, a young singer from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, defender of lesbian visibility, with queer lyrics in her work, who in 2011 collaborated with the producer Bizarrap, heads the line-up and the performances of this edition. Juacko DJ, considered one of the best producers of the moment, will also be present, with sessions that will mix reggaeton and electronic.

The after-parties will take place at Gotham, with a 1990s-themed party led by Alex Guirado, and at Discoteca Hollywood with a Madmoiselle party hosted by Joanne and featuring LGTBIQ+ activist DJ Tarada.

The third day of Abanico’s Weekend will take place on the Velamar stage, at Passeig de Sa Caleta, 12. At 11 am, the Family Diversity Party will be held, with the children’s entertainment group Els Atrapasomnis. The group recently won the Enderrock 2023 award for Best Album for Family Audiences. Later, at 8 pm, it will be the turn of the drag gala, Miss Travesti Costa Brava, hosted by Jèssica Pulla. The Catalan drag queen defines herself as “the new Marta Ferrusola with the legs of Laura Borràs”.

“We wanted to increase the intergenerational component of the Abanicos Weekend and offer cultural proposals for all ages, hence we approach young people with a figure of the music scene as relevant as Ptazeta, a more adult audience with the Azucarillo Kings or Fórmula Abierta, and Els Atrapasomnis, who will enjoy the children’s audience,” said Ivan Soriano, President of PLURALS, LGTBIQ+ Association.

A weekend full of music, performances and events for all audiences, with the sole intention of vindicating and celebrating the right of all people to be who they want to be.
