The Lloret Convention Bureau, the body that promotes meetings and events tourism in Lloret de Mar, with more than 50 members from both the public and private sectors, has launched a full calendar of promotional activities in strategic markets in September with the aim of consolidating the destination’s positioning in the MICE sector, highlighting the MICE&Sports tandem, where Lloret de Mar is highly attractive thanks to a wide range of specialised sports and business tourism, combined with a long history and a highly valued strategic location in terms of both indoor and outdoor venues.
From the 20th to the 22nd of September, the Lloret Convention Bureau hosted a famtrip with 9 Norwegian event organisers to visit different specialised hotels and unique venues. The director of the Lloret Convention Bureau, Montse Belisario, explains that “the Scandinavian countries are a strategic market for the Lloret Convention Bureau and we have been able to understand that they really like our natural environment and the different experiences that are offered to enjoy it, as they offer a significant added value to the specialised hotel facilities of Lloret de Mar”.
On 2 October, it also participated in the BUY MICE Milano workshop, which brought together more than 150 event organisers from Italy. The Lloret Convention Bureau was accompanied by member Evenia Hotels, which held various meetings with potential clients throughout the day. During the event, the new Lloret Experiences web platform was presented to the agents, with more than 60 proposals for team building and incentive activities in 6 categories: Nature and Sports, Health and Wellness, Bleisure, Food and Wine, Culture and Traditions, Sustainability and CSR. From the 4th to the 6th of October, as part of the OGL Meetings project, Lloret hosted 8 organising agencies from Barcelona in a joint famtrip that showcased this strategic MICE alliance in the districts of Girona through the combination of three complementary landscapes (Olot-Girona-Lloret), 35 minutes apart, which represent a unique offer for organising any type of event that combines mountain, city and sea.
The latest event in which the Lloret Convention Bureau will participate this October is the Global MICE Forum, a national workshop that will be held in Santander from 14 to 16 October, with the participation of 50 Spanish event organisers, and which will be held in Lloret de Mar next year. Tourism Councillor Frederic Guich explains that “hosting the Global MICE Forum will be a good opportunity to welcome the best national event agencies to our country and show them first-hand our value proposition”. The Lloret Convention Bureau will be accompanied by the Hotel L’Azure.
In addition to this intense promotional activity, Lloret de Mar is in full swing these days with the hosting of different events such as the third edition of the Costa Brava Hub Conference, focusing on digital nomads, and the Specialised Canine Units Days, with more than 100 agents from different security forces and 30 canine units (60 dogs) from Spain and abroad. Last weekend, Lloret de Mar also became the international epicentre of nature photography with the 28th Monphoto FEST, which brought together internationally renowned photographers such as Jaume Rojo, highlighted by National Geographic, Matt Maran, Sergio Pitamitz, Kristel Schneide, Arturo Rodríguez, Héctor Cordero, David Hup, Michiel van Noppen, Maria Contreras and Marta Bretó, among others.
As far as events related to the environment and sustainability are concerned, the Plogging Congress was held in Lloret on the 4th of October at the Guitart Central Park Aqua Resort Hotel, followed by the Plogging Day on the 5th of October, which combined sporting activities with the collection of waste in nature. The last of the sustainable events was the Adopta’m Fair, which took place on Sunday 6 October at Water World, with various activities and suggestions for responsible pet ownership.
It is also worth mentioning that several hotels that are members of the Lloret Convention Bureau have hosted national and international congresses from various sectors, such as KPMG, AD Bosch, King, ACCESS and Electroclass.
Finally, for lovers of entertainment and comics, the second edition of Comic Con was held on 5 and 6 October at the Gran Casino Costa Brava, with the participation of Geoffrey Butler, the butler from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and other well-known actors and actresses such as Karyn Parsons, who played Hillary Banks in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air; Craig Fairbrass, Dan Sullivan in EastEnders; Colton Haynes, one of the main characters in Teen Wolfs; and Paul Blackthorne, actor in 24 and Dresden.
