This week, Lloret de Mar, through Lloret Turisme, attended Europe’s leading professional tourism fair, the World Travel Market, which took place in London from 7 to 9 November, this year celebrating its 43rd edition.
Lloret Turisme, together with the Costa Brava Girona Pyrenees Tourist Board, was present at the Catalonia stand, where it held a number of meetings with operators, tour operators and specialised media to promote the destination’s value proposition and new features, explore possible partnerships and capture the outlook for 2023. In the words of Elizabeth Keegan, manager of Lloret Turisme: “We have met, for example, with Jet2Holidays to assess new joint synergies, with Ireland’s largest operator, Sunway, which will begin to programme the destination at the end of the year, and with companies representing this market in order to strengthen our brand presence in Ireland thanks to the various air connections with Girona Airport. We have also met with the main OTAs in the British market and the rest of Europe”.
Several companies from Lloret have also travelled to the British capital to take part in the fair, such as Garbí hotels, L’Azure Hotel, HTop hotels, Aqua hotels, Marsol hotels, Guitart hotels and the incoming agencies Traveltec and Evenia Travel Services.
Within the framework of the World Travel Market, the Board of Directors of the Alliance of Sun and Beach Tourist Municipalities also met to announce the total number of tourists that these eight municipalities have received; specifically 3.6 million visitors, which represents 10% of the national and international tourists that Spain has received in 2022.
In the words of Jaume Dulsat, Mayor of Lloret de Mar: “The WTM is a must-attend event for the tourism sector on a global scale where we can already see how marketing is developing in the run-up to 2023”.
