Lloret de Mar is once again the capital of motor sport with the Lloret Formula Weekend

The town’s main streets were buzzing with the Motorshow

Lloret de Mar filled up with visitors keen to enjoy the motorsport-themed Lloret Formula Weekend that took place last weekend, coinciding with the PIRELLI SPANISH GRAND PRIX 2015 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

For three days, visitors flocked to the Formula Village enclosure, located in Plaça Pere Torrent, which housed a spectacular karting track, car racing simulators and food trucks. The crowd swelled during the evening as the time approached for the Motorshow to get under way. Avinguda Just Marlès was packed with onlookers keen to enjoy the stunts performed by professional drivers in top-of the-range cars, along with the accompanying music laser show. The Formula Kids area, with bouncy castles, a pedal-car circuit and other attractions, also proved a great success.

As Jordi Orobitg, Councillor for Tourism, explained, “The three-year contract extension signed between the Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya and F1 ensures the continuity of this event for the near future. Lloret de Mar was already a leading destination for F1 fans; with the Lloret Formula Weekend event we’ve established it as a leading destination for motorsport fans.”

On Friday evening the town centre was a hive of activity as another Lloret Night Shopping event got under way with plenty of shopping offers and leisure activities. Meanwhile, the Formula Classics event held on Saturday (also part of the Lloret Formula Weekend) brought together over 200 participants and their classic cars from all over the world.
