Lloret de Mar, capital of the Costa Brava, is the ideal place to enjoy a summer full of culture and tradition, with all the activities of a new edition of the Lloret Outdoor Summer Festival. This is a comprehensive programme of outdoor events covering different artistic disciplines; a cultural initiative that aims to bring music, theatre, dance, cinema and other artistic disciplines to the most emblematic —and often unknown— spaces in the municipality.
With activities for all audiences, such as guided tours, open-air theatre and iconic musical performances, the festival aims to showcase the natural, historical and cultural heritage of Lloret de Mar. Beaches, gardens, squares and heritage sites become large stages for rediscovering Lloret through its culture.
Concerts with sea views
From musical performances on Lloret beach in front of the Sardana monument, with Los Manolos and Búhos headlining, to the now well-established Clon Festival, where bands pay tribute to artists such as David Bowie, the Rolling Stones, ABBA and the Gipsy Kings, performing their songs and stage presence with cloning accuracy. This year, in addition to the Roca d’en Maig venue, the Clon Festival will also feature concerts on Fenals beach as part of the Fenals de Música programme.
Open-air cinema
On Wednesdays in July and August, at 10 pm, venues such as Plaza Germinal Ros, Sa Caleta and Can Carbó host open-air cinema screenings. This year’s line-up includes Billy Elliot, Primos, Moulin Rouge and Lady Bird, with some screenings in Spanish and others in Catalan.
Guided and dramatised tours
Various locations around the city will be the setting for guided and dramatised tours during the Outdoor Summer Festival. In July, “Clotilde and the Agapanthus” will be the star attraction in the Santa Clotilde Gardens until Saturday 19 July, while in August there will be a dramatised tour “Widows and Maidens” at Can Font —the only public Indiano house in Catalonia— to discover the world of women at the end of the 19th century, as well as the guided tour tour “Heritage of the Americas” in the Modernist Cemetery with live music. In September, there will be a guided tour of the Maritime Museum with a pairing of products from the Americas.
Musical evenings in emblematic venues
In addition, Lloret de Mar will offer special musical events this summer in unique venues such as Lloret Castle, the Casino, serenade nights in Sant Pere del Bosc, diverse music in the Santa Cristina area and the On Off festival in Sa Caleta.
Traditional family shows
Among the activities for children and adults to enjoy the summer nights in Lloret de Mar are various family shows, circus performances, dance and traditional entertainment. From the 99th Sardana Season in the Plaça de la Vila, the correfoc (fire run) and a children’s concert in Sa Caleta to the traditional diada castellera (human tower building) on 24 August.
Natural experiences
In addition to music, theatre and dance shows, the festival showcases the natural environment of Lloret and invites you to discover it through the activities of Lloret Nature. From day and night snorkelling trips for adults and children to yoga sessions on Fenals beach and activities in both Fenals and Lloret beach.
Lloret Drone Festival
A show featuring 200 drones on Lloret beach on 11, 12 and 13 September.
World Tourism Day
The Outdoor Summer Festival programme closes with activities planned to mark World Tourism Day on 27 September.
