The Lloret de Mar Rally reaches its 13th edition, consolidated and with international projection

On 6, 7 and 8 February, Lloret de Mar will host a new edition of a rally that is firmly established in the national calendar for the discipline, which also aims to reaffirm its position thanks to the constant growth in foreign participation.

The organising team, V-Line Org. and Lloret de Mar Town Council continue to strengthen their close collaboration, confirming their ambition for a rally in constant evolution. The Lloret event aims to remain a benchmark both within and outside Catalonia, with an increasingly prominent presence of participants from beyond our borders, especially from France. In this context, the official presentation of the thirteenth edition of the event was held on Monday 12th.

One of its main features is its long and attractive 150-kilometre timed route, once again divided into two stages of competition through the Girona region. Teams will have to complete six different stages on Saturday and Sunday, following the format introduced in the last edition, a new feature that was very well received by participants. On Friday afternoon, the “Shakedown” will take place, a short test section in Lloret Blau where participants will fine-tune their vehicles.

The competition will officially begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, 7 February, when the first team leaves the podium located on the Lloret seafront promenade, heading for the three special timed stages scheduled for the first day of the race: “Tossa-Cadiretes”, “Els Àngels” and “Santa Pellaia”, which will have to be tackled twice. Aware of the desire of many teams to compete at night, the organisers have scheduled a third run through the legendary Tossa stage, starting at 8:01 pm.

The following day, Sunday 8th, the action will continue on the stages around the Les Guilleries massif, such as “Cladells”, on the road linking Santa Coloma de Farners with Sant Hilari Sacalm, and “Osor”, which connects the latter with the town of Anglès. The first competitor will arrive at the Paseo Marítimo shortly before 3:00 p.m., while the trophy presentation is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. for the Speed competitors and 4:45 p.m. for the Regularity competitors.

The title of Motor Capital fits the town of Lloret de Mar like a glove, as it will once again be the epicentre of the rally, hosting all the essential venues. The incomparable setting offered by the seafront promenade, a distinctive feature that makes our event internationally renowned, is the ideal location for the start and finish podium, the parc fermé, the regroupings and the awards ceremony on Sunday. The images of the vehicles by the sea attract more and more participants who do not want to miss the opportunity to be part of an iconic photo. As usual, the excellent facilities of the Evenia Olympic Palace Hotel will be the ideal venue to host the race headquarters and the large team of people needed to organise an event of this magnitude.

The collaboration of the Costa Brava Tourism Capital is, once again, of vital importance in ensuring the smooth running of an event that boosts the local economy at a time of year when tourism is not at its peak.

The Rally Lloret would not be possible without the support of Pirelli, Evenia Hotels, Monlau Technical School, AUTOhebdo SPORT, Tecnigas, Bricoceràmic, Pobe i Fitel Televisión, as well as institutions such as the Provincial Council of Girona and the Costa Brava – Pirineo Girona Tourist Board, Esportcat and the Catalan and Spanish Automobile Federations.

Adrià Lamelas, Mayor of Lloret de Mar: “This event is a clear example of how collaboration between the organisation and the Town Council allows us to promote attractive events that highlight the charm of our surroundings and generate economic activity, employment and tourist dynamism at a key time of year.”

Guillem Pérez, sporting director of V-Line Org: “The sporting consolidation of the Lloret de Mar Rally not only demonstrates the excellent work being done in collaboration with Lloret de Mar Town Council, but also provides an important economic and promotional boost for the town, positioning it as the Capital of Motor Sport and Tourism. The increase in foreign participation year after year means that, in addition to our local audience, we are attracting more and more people from outside our borders, which is key to giving back to the city the support it has given to the organisation of the event.”
